Why I Wrote a Book About Self Worth

I had a dream for many years to write a self-help book, but the idea for this particular book came to me in 2018. Self-worth is defined as the sense of one’s own value or worth as a person; or “a sense of one’s own value as a human being”. I myself struggled low with self worth when I was younger, and it took many years of inner work to strengthen it. Since I became a life coach, I’ve been working with many women, from four continents, helping them with confidence building, career transition, and life transformation. During the coaching sessions with my clients, when we would dig deeper into their subconscious beliefs, we would come to a profound realization that low self worth was the root cause of most of the challenges that they were facing – whether it was perfectionism, self-doubt, the impostor syndrome,  low self confidence, poor boundaries in relationships (being taken advantage of), under-earning, or self sabotage. The more clients I worked with over the years, the more shocked I was discovering how many women were struggling with low self worth. What was even more concerning, I could find very few books at that time about strengthening self-worth, that I could recommend my clients for further reading.

While I was on vacation in Croatia in 2018. I felt inspired to write a blog post about self empowerment. I went to a beachside café with a view onto the sea, opened my MacBook Air, ordered a lemonade, and started writing. The blog post turned out to be very long, just like the previous one on increasing self worth, and a thought came to my mind that I could actually write a book on the topic. When I returned from the vacation, my idea for the book was so clear that I wrote down the chapters in the book, and came up with a title. But, as I started working with new clients and planning upcoming workshops, I did start writing it.

Two years after, In 2020, while I was quarantined in India, I finally decided to act on the idea and write the book. Since that was my first book, I decided to write it in my native language first. In November 2021. I launched my book Ja Vrijedim in digital format on Google Books. Once my book was published in my native language, I started writing it in English, and in May 2021, my book Self Worth – Women’s Guide To Increasing Self Worth, Self Respect, and Self Confidence was published on Amazon in paperback and Kindle edition.

It is hard to describe in words the feeling I had when the package with the books arrived, I opened the box, and I held the paperback version of my book in my hands for the first time! Writing a self-help book has been a dream of mine for a long time, and finally being able to see it, feel it, touch it, and hold it in my hands after it got published was really a surreal experience! The greatest award of writing this book was certainly reading the feedback I’ve been receiving from the readers how the book has helped and inspired them to strengthen their self worth, boost their confidence, and make positive changes in their life.

I am so grateful that I got to make my dream of writing a book a reality and that the message and advice in this book is inspiring and empowering women in so many countries around the world! Dreams do come true, and this book is one more proof of it! As Bob Proctor wisely said: ‘If you can see it in your mind, you can hold it in your hand!’
